Trump–Xi Beijing Summit Ends with Symbolism, Limited Trade Progress
US President Donald Trump has completed his highly publicized summit in Beijing with Chinese President Xi Jinping, which was full of symbolism but not many concrete outcomes on trade matters. Even though President Trump announced fantastic deals, including the possibility of selling huge amounts of Boeing planes and exports of billions of dollars' worth of farm products, China was silent about any agreements reached. The delegations of high-tech industry giants such as Elon Musk and Jensen Huang accompanied Trump in an indication that artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors have become priority matters despite American export restrictions. While the Taiwan question and the ongoing Iran war that influences the world oil supply have created a lot of tension, both presidents decided to form the Board of Trade.
